As Mike and Al boarded their flight home from the brand new airport at Zagreb, it was an opportunity to give thanks to God for all he is doing in this part of the world.
What was once Yugoslavia has become 7 different nations each with their own unique outlook, but also sharing many commonalities. There is no doubt, they are blessed with some of the most spectacular scenery in Europe. We have found that the people whatever their ethnic background have been friendly and welcoming.
This last week had been our fourth walk in the region. 5th if we include Mike’s visit to Macedonia and walk through Albania. We have found that generally the believers we have met have been of a high quality. A Holy people, passionate to see God’s glory in their nations and region. We have been impressed with the way we have been honoured and held in high regard, even though we are just short term visitors. We actually believe this is one of the keys of the fruitfulness that we have seen on this trips. Scripture tells us, “Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.” We believe the same applies to any of the fivefold gifts, including evangelists!
The churches in this part of the world are relatively small. A congregation of 50 or 60 would be considered a large church. Therefore the people that we reach are proportionally very significant. Our visit to Montenegro increased the amount of born again believers by actual whole percentage points.
The young lady who responded to the gospel last week in Slovenia lived on a stretch of road where there was about 90 Kilometres between Bible believing churches! On our last morning 3 people made first time commitments to Christ in Zagreb Croatia. We join in with the rejoicing in Heaven.
So we walk on. Taking the good news of Jesus death and resurrection to the streets, bars, cafes, even churches. Believing that the gospel is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. We will be back, no doubt. Because we believe the Father has many more he wants to draw to himself.
In the meantime please join us in praying for the pastors, missionaries and congregations of believers in this part of Europe. If you have connections there encourage and support them In anyway you can.
